Introducing Me (Luke)
General Information
Hello my name is Luke.
I am 42 years old (as of mid 2011).
I live in Las Vegas and have since 1985. I may want to leave one day but for now this is home.
If life offers the right adventure I am outta here. There is a lot of
outdoor stuff very close to Las Vegas so it is easy to be entertained. I very rarely go out on
the town and do the "Vegas Thing". About the only time I go out to do any of that, is
when company comes to visit from out of town. Then I play tourist for a while. The funny
thing is, each time I say to myself I should do it more often so I don't feel like I am missing
everything that's right here in town. People come from all over the world to check this
place out.
My interests are mostly outdoor stuff. I enjoy hiking, backpacking, kayaking (tour style),
climbing (just learning), Canyoneering (which I have become a
bit obsessed with!), and have done
very little mountain biking but would love to do more (only a
little though). Not sure how much of it I will continue
to do but I have recently enjoyed checking out a few old mines. One of them took us 960
feet below ground. That's about as tall as the Stratosphere here in town! I also used to
snowboard for a few years but seem to have lost the love of that.
I enjoy a little bit of 4 wheeling, not the heavy duty stuff
just the light stuff out exploring the desert. I once had
a 1967 International Scout. I had a day in that truck I
will never forget. Can you say stranded? If you
would like to read a fun story about that feel free to check out
the story about being
stranded.
Other than the out door thing, I enjoy the standard stuff you here everyone say when asked what
they like. Hanging out with friends, movies, out to eat etc. Although I like going to Movies I
almost never watch TV. The movie genres I do like are sci-fi, comedy, martial art and an occasional
drama. I am not into horror movies, I don't like that stuff in my head.
I enjoy a wide variety of music but mostly like the mellow stuff. Don't get me wrong, there are
plenty of occasions where I get the urge to listen to something hard and thrashing. I don't care
much for rap, country, disco or heavy metal. There are a few songs in each of those categories I
really like, but over all they are not for me.
I used to own a Ninja ZX6R but ended up having it totaled. I got hit when
some guy cut a left turn and side swiped me in the parking
garage at my work. I am not sure if I will get another
motorcycle or not.. On the enjoyable side there is the
fun free feeling of the raw power and easy maneuvering through
traffic along with the great feeling of freedom by not being
enclosed in a box. On the fear side, there is seeing too
many people I know get hurt while riding. So maybe I will
ride again, Maybe I won't, time will tell.
